THE WALKER PROSPECTIVE

"And in the end, it is not the years in your life that count, it's the life in your years."
-ABRAHAM LINCOLN

WALKER'S STORY:

Walker Herring Taylor was a 22 year old senior at Auburn University when a day spent kayaking with his friends on the Tallapoosa River in Alabama unexpectedly turned into a fatal accident.

Everyone who knew Walker loved his zest for life and his love of the great outdoors.  His black lab, Levi was his best friend and trusty companion.  Walker was the oldest of four children and grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina.  Although he grew up in the largest city in North Carolina, Walker's favorite place was the family hunting lodge in the rural town of Newton Grove, North Carolina where he spent many happy weekends hunting with his friends and cousins.

After Walker's death, his classmates at Auburn along with his family established a scholarship in the Foresty Department of Auburn where Walker was a student.  The past few years, students of the Forestry School have received the Walker Herring Taylor Scholarship Award.

It is our hope that through the Charley-Walker Foundation, we can raise funding to grow the Walker Herring Taylor Scholarship.   The Charley-Walker Foundation will strive to "Make it Count" by providing educational opportunities to deserving students in Walker's memory.
